The gold treasure in Västerljung
The Tureholm treasure is a collection of gold objects from the 5th century AD that were found in Västerljung’s parish in 1774 by the farmer Jonas Nilsson. The treasure weighed about 12 kg and is one of the largest gold treasures found in Sweden!
Parts of the treasure can be found at Historiska museet in Stockholm.
A larger variant of the gold necklace can be found as decoration in the roundabout in Västerljung. It is made by students at Praktiska gymnasiet in Nykvarn. The teacher had to make his own machines and tools so that the students could shape and weld the parts together. The sculpture is 4.8 meters in diameter.
Tha count couple von Hallwyls grave
In Västerljung’s cemetery, the count couple Wilhelmina and Walther von Hallwyl are buried. Perhaps you have heard of the Hallwylska palace or the Hallwylska museum on Hamngatan in Stockholm? A palace full of Wilhelmina’s beautiful art collections. Count couple Wilhelmina and Walther von Hallwyl owned and had the palace built in the 19th century.

Västerljung is Trosa municipality’s smallest town with about 1000 inhabitants. The town became part of Trosa municipality as late as 1992, after having belonged to Hölebo district.

Glamping and hammock hotel at Havrevreten
Just outside the idyllic town of Trosa is the Havrevreten Farm. Here, among hiking trails, small lakes, and fields, the owners have built a business offering activities and recreation of a different kind. A beautiful nature reserve, where wild animals roam freely, stretches around the farm. It’s scenic, quiet, and peaceful. Made to sooth the soul.
The icing on the cake at Havrevreten are the various glamping tents available for rent. The word “glamping” comes from “glamorous camping”. Glamping is experiencing nature without compromising on comfort and convenience. It’s simply a nature experience with extra everything.
If it’s the adventure that attracts maybe a night in a hammock is the right way for you to go. Tha hammocks hang in “dormitories” in the beautiful forest and dinner and breakfast are included.

Sörmlandsleden etapp 55 har berikats med ett lyxigt vindskydd. Kanske Sörmlandsledens lyxigaste? Här, i Västerljung strax utanför Trosa, har Lina Nydahl gjort i ordning ett av sina uthus för övernattning. Byggåret är 1901 och har från början hållit både höns och får, kanske även några kor, berättar Lina.
Ja, vindskydd med betoning på lyx. Det lilla faluröda huset med ockragula dörrar och fönster är förvisso inte uppvärmt eller isolerat, men här är inrett med en dubbelsäng bäddad med härliga textilier och en skrivhörna med förra ägarens (som var utrikeskorrespondent) skrivmaskin.
Här finns ljus att tända och massor att titta på, lisa för själen. Du kan låna spel, läsa böcker, vandra i skogen eller hyra SUP och bege dig ut på Hållsviken.
Matlagningen löser du på grillen och du får tillgång till badrum inne i Linas hus. I priset ingår också en frukostpåse.
