Did you know that the Sörmland archipelago is more than 10,000 years old, has a six-mile long coastline and consists of the municipalities of Trosa, Nyköping and Oxelösund. There are approximately 2,800 islands, plus a large number of islands and islets. The Sörmland archipelago is not as exploited as in many other places along the Swedish coast and large areas are nature reserves.
The Trosa archipelago offers peaceful, nature-rich experiences among islands, skerries, and sparkling seas. During the summer season, archipelago ferries make it easy to reach islands such as Askö, Kråmö, and Sävö for swimming, hiking, and relaxation in an authentic coastal environment.
The archipelago is also wonderful to explore by kayak or SUP — paddle among skerries and narrow sounds for a closer connection to nature, with equipment available for rent in Trosa during the summer.
For those who wish to stay overnight, accommodation is available in the archipelago — for example, in charming cottages at Kråmö Skärgårdsby, where you can wake up to the sound of the sea and explore the nature reserve at your own pace.
The archipelago also offers delightful sauna experiences. On Kråmö, there is a wood-fired sauna by the rocks with a bathing jetty just outside — perfect after a day on the water. On the mainland, you can enjoy a sauna on a floating sauna at Trosa Havsbad & Camping, where you can combine sauna bathing with a refreshing dip in the sea and views of the archipelago.
Trosa’s archipelago is equally well suited for a day trip filled with boating, paddling, and swimming as it is for several days of activities, nature experiences, and relaxation in the rhythm of summer.
Transport
With Trosa’s archipelago tour boat, you can get to the islands of Kråmö and Askö during the summer.

Another way to get out into the archipelago is, of course, by kayak or canoe.

Visit the archipelago without a boat! At Stendörren, you can reach the islands via suspension bridges. Prepare a picnic, park your car, and set out.
Fishing
Fishing with a fishing license in Trosaån from 1 January to 14 September. Or join a fishing trip with a fishing guide. In Trosa municipality, there are great opportunities for regulated recreational fishing, both on your own or with a guide.
The right of public access (Allemansrätten)
Thanks to the right of public access, we can move freely in nature. Always remember the motto “do not disturb, do not destroy” when in nature.
Never lit a fire directly on rock slabs. They crack and it leaves ugly wounds in nature that cannot be repaired. In the event of a drought, a general fire ban may apply. For updates on the fire situation, read the respective municipality’s website or mcf.se.
Leave no trace! All rubbish you have taken out to sea, you must bring ashore. Littering is prohibited.
